Spotlight Reviews on Mechanisms of Disease

About this Issue

Background

This focused issue of Experimental Biology and Medicine (EBM) is exclusively accepting Reviews or Mini-Reviews that deepen our understanding of the biological processes and factors that drive disease, and how these insights can be translated into meaningful clinical impact. EBM welcomes reviews at the cutting edge - work that challenges, or has strong potential to challenge, long-held paradigms in Experimental Biology and Medicine and ultimately reshape medical practice and human health.

Building on this vision, the journal particularly encourages reviews that highlight pioneering biomedical research and clearly address how mechanistic discoveries advance translational progress. This includes, but is not limited to, how these insights lead to:
- Understanding Causation and Etiology: Clarifying the complex mechanisms and factors causing disease.
- Novel Therapeutic Strategies: Identifying new drug targets and facilitating the development of innovative treatments, including pharmacological and biological approaches.
- Diagnostics and Prognostics: Discovering and validating new diagnostic or prognostic biomarkers, with opportunities for genetic and multi-omics integration.
- Prevention and Public Health: Advancing research on disease prevention and methodologies that propel the field forward.
- Precision Medicine: Highlighting how mechanistic, genetic, and pharmacological discoveries support patient-specific risk stratification and tailored therapeutic strategies.

We encourage work spanning the entire translational spectrum - from T0 (basic science) to T4 (population health). Submissions may fall within any of the research categories covered by EBM, with a strong preference for interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary work.
